Webber Watch
April 14th, 2008 by NathanIt must seem, to the casual observer, that Andrew Lloyd Webber is suddenly everywhere at once. Turn on the television or log onto the web and within about 15 seconds Bam! you’ve run into a whole new shed-full of Webber rumour. He’s teaming up with Ben Elton, he’s writing (or has written) Phantom of the Opera II, he’s growing a moustache; all sorts.
If one sifts through Webber’s homepage though, one can find actual video evidence of his upcoming plans straight from the er,… the horse’s mouth, so to speak. And I can tell you, this concrete testimony certainly goes a fair way in pinning down some of those hazy, web-pervading rumours. For example, did you know that ole ALW is going to be a mentor on American Idol? Nope, neither did I; but it would appear that Andrew will be dishing out his pearly wisdom to those American wannabes at the end of the month. Due to air on Fox on the 22nd and then be broadcast in Blighty a week later, the episode will have contestants pitted against the daring intricacies of the “Las Vegas Spectacular” edition of Phantom (”Dah! Dah, dah, dah, dah, daaaaahhh!”)
Other than that of course, the Web-ster can be found dishing out advice on the BBC’s Saturday night flagship, I’d Do Anything. Tara had to be booted off on Sunday and Andrew has left a very reassuring message for her on his blog too if you’ve mind to check it out. Otherwise, keep your eyes and ears open and if you hear of anything please let us know! I’ll certainly be having a wee trawl of the TV listings on Webber Watch and, of course, be snooping around the ole world wide web(ber) for a few titbits.
