Barrowman leaks “I’d Do Anything” Judges

Friday, February 29th, 2008

Good old John Barrowman has been galavanting around town promoting his new book and to our delight he’s also been spilling the beans on this, that and everything. Not only did his loose tongue tell us that he’s a judge on the upcoming “I’d Do Anything” show, he also dragged Denise Van Outen into the picture too.
After he’d let the cat out of the bag - surprise surprise the I’d Do Anything website unveiled the last remaining judge, as it was only a matter of time before the giggling Barroman let slip the biggest secret.
Much to our amusement Barry Humphries AKA Dame Edna Everage is the 5th and final judge on the show, will he come dressed as Edna yelling “Hello Possum” at every auditionee or will the man behind the mask be himself?
So the final judging panel for I’d Do Anything includes Andrew Lloyd Webber, Cameron Mackintosh, John Barrowman, Denise Van Outen and Dame Edna Everage - quite the motley crew!

For the young readers amongst you here is a short clip of Dame Edna…..

John Barrowman’s Loose Tongue

Wednesday, February 27th, 2008

After sneakly listening to radio one at work I managed to catch the John Barrowman interview on Jo Whiley’s afternoon slot, he loves to dish the dirt and I thought I may catch a few gossipy stories. Guess what gossip fans, he did drop a few cheeky tales but most importantly he gave away the fact that he is a judge on the upcoming show “I’d Do Anything” - Webber’s third TV theatre star search (for Oliver and Nancy). Barrowman also let slip that Denise Van Outen will be joining him as judge too.

The Torchwood star also confessed to hearing about Sir Lloyd Webber’s hissy fits and reckons he is slightly mad - but that makes him interesting to watch! Not only does the tantrum throwing mad man provide us with great entertainment - Barrowman claims Webber also throws an impressive party in his Irish Castle (in which Zoe Tyler and Barrowman often partake in a bit of skinny dipping - ooh er).

Unfortunately he didn’t give much away about Denise Van Outen and Lee Mead, but he did say they used to have a good old perv on the Joseph guys and he could see the chemistry between them. Barrowman claims he still stays in touch with some of the Joseph guys and acts a mentor to them, he recently said in an interview he keeps in touch with Keith Jack (the runner up in Any Dream Will Do) and advised him on his upcoming Flashdance audition! So there is another piece of gossip for you - Flashdance will be the next big musical and Keith Jack might be in it!

So John Barrowman fans you can look forward to seeing him back on our screens March/April time in “I’d Do Anything” on BBC.

Earplugs needed for new Nancy Auditions

Tuesday, February 26th, 2008

So they’ve posted some more Nancy auditions on the I’d Do Anything website and to tell you the truth they’re not much better than the last lot! Jodie Penger is just mental, I would not like to meet her down a dark alley - her eyes and face have a mind of their own. Then there is poor old DCaiomhe Garvey, she starts off well but then fluffs her lines throughout - tut tut this is your one shot come on!
Not much else posted in the way of news but expect an explosion of information towards the end of next month as the show is due to start then.
But in the mean time why not have a go on their Oliver!song quiz and brush up on your knowledge before the show. http://www.bbc.co.uk/oliver/

Sneaky Peek at I’d Do Anything

Friday, February 15th, 2008

Good news! The BBC have updated the I’d Do Anything website and for those of you who are as impatient as the Show and Stay team - you can have a right good nose about and see what’s been going on.

To my delight there are few clips to watch on the site, there are two Nancy auditions in which the first woman has “theatre face” (going through several emotions in a short amount of time) and the second woman starts to cry - I can’t work out if she is being bullied by the man shouting at her or she’s just into the song.

Each week day they’ll be posting new Nancy auditions up on the site - I can only hope they get worse and worse for our viewing pleasure (with a few good ones thrown in at least!). The site also features some vox pops of auditionees and theatregoers describing Nancy’s character, to which they believe her to be a fiesty, sexy, nurturing mother - hmm mixed bag of description there. Watch out for little and large who obviously just stumbled out of the local chippie and must of ended up at the audition when looking for a park bench to scoff their chips.

So the ball has officially started rolling and the Oliver train is in motion, keep checking back for more news and info on this exciting show!
