Rent Is Back In The West End!
August 9th, 2007 by Laura WestThe controversial, boundary breaking musical is back in the West End to capture the attention of a new generation. Openly discussing gay, bisexual and lesbian relationships with transgender characters, this is a musical like no other. However for those who don’t know the musical wont know about the dark centre to the story, Rent tackles the widespread disease AIDS and it’s morbid effects on a human body and mind. It’s an emotional and heart wrenching tale which transports the audience into a world of love, ambition, betrayal and uncertainty. A truly eye opening story which is definitely worth a watch, keep checking back to our site for information on tickets to the show.
Here is a snippet of the show.
CAST: Siobhan Donaghy - who post-Sugababes has recently released her second solo album, Ghosts - plays Mimi alongside Luke Evans (Taboo, Miss Saigon) as Roger, Oliver Thornton (The Phantom of the Opera, Les Mis) as Mark, Leon Lopez (Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, TV’s Brookside, Hollyoaks) as Collins and Whatsonstage.com Award nominee Jay Webb (Seven Brides for Seven Brothers) as Angel. Hi Romana,
I am pleased to say there will we a Show and Stay theatre break for RENT and it shall be up and running very soon.
The best way to find out all the lastest information on ticket prices and show info is to bookmark Show and Stay and keep checking back every week for our regular updates.
Now heres the bad news…….RENT will only be running from the 2nd October 2007 until the 5th April 2008, however we can always keep our fingers crossed for an extension as I’m sure this show will be extremely popular and if there is an extension we will be one the first to let everyone know!
I hope this helps and thanks for taking an interest in our site,

Thank you for informing me of the show and stay package for RENT I will keep my eye open for it. I guess it will be available once the show has opened in October. I hope that The show does have an extension, and with the popularity of the film it seems very likely. Is this the first time RENT has come to the West End since the film came out in 2005? Thanks. Hi Romana,
The tickets for RENT will be available to purchase once the theatre break pages are up and running on the site, which hopefully should be very soon.
RENT actually began as a theatre production in New York at New York Theatre Workshop before moving to Broadway and opening at the Nederlander Theatre on April 29, 1996.
Due to it’s overwhelming success the production was transported overseas to the West End and debuted at the Shaftesbury Theatre from May 1998 to October 1999.
After a short break it was back to delight more theatre-goers in the Prince of Wales Theatre, however it was only for a short period from December 2001 to January 2002 and December 2002 to March 2003.
So RENT has actually been around for quite a while!
I can’t wait to go and see it as I have only seen the film and am eager to see it on stage, it will be amazing!
