You will ‘Never Forget’ the Take That Musical
March 19th, 2007 by Laura WestEverybody’s favourite boyband Take That are set to take the country’s theatres by storm with ‘Never Forget’, the musical based on their catalogue of smash hits. The Show will follow a Take That tribute band as they experience various fictional trials along the road. There is a lot of speculation as to how much of the story will be fictional and maybe there will be a rebellious character based on Robbie Williams.
Take That fans across the country will be desperate to get hold of the hottest tickets in town when the show’s dates are announced and critics and fans alike will be asking ‘Could it be Magic’?
Take That have recently staged one of the most-anticipated comebacks in pop history, reaching number one with their smash hits ‘Patience’ and ‘Shine’. The boys - Howard Donald, Mark Owen, Jason Orange and lead singer Gary Barlow smashed their way to the top of the charts recently after ten years pursuing other careers. Watch the vid below of ‘Patience’ and get a taster for what’s to come when ‘Never Forget’ hits the country’s theatres. If the show proves to be as much of a success as their pop careers, Take That could feature in the West End for a very long time.
The story for the musical is written by Danny Brocklehurst, known for his work on the hilarious channel four series ‘Shameless’. Therefore it is possible the show could be a contemporary tale with a lot of black humour. The musical aspects are going to be similar to those used for the Abba and Queen musicals, ‘Mamma Mia’ and ‘We Will Rock You’ respectively. There may not quite be ‘A Million Love Songs’ but Take That’s greatest hits will all be a part of the eagerly-awaited show, including the title track ‘Never Forget’.
When the show does reach the stage, expect the tickets to sell as quickly as for their recent tour. Their 2007 comeback tour sold out within hours of going on sale, showing that the 90s pop-superstars still have the fan-base to sell out major national venues. Take That really do seem to be ‘Back for Good’.
