March 21st, 2007 by JonAfter recovering from a vocal strain, Connie Fisher is now stepping down from her full time roll as Maria Rainer. That’s right folks, on her doctor’s orders, the star is now taking Monday night and Wednesday afternoon off so she can relax and catch up with what’s going on Wisteria Lane and keep an eye on Mo’s dodgy dealings in Albert Square. Fear not, the show will go on as Aoife Mulholland will be stepping in as a replacement on these nights. Fourth placed in the show, ‘How Do You Solve A Problem Like Maria’ Aoife finally gets her chance to shine in the show after her huge success in Chicago. As from 9th april, you will be able to catch Aoife live on stage.

Poor article - firstly Connie is having the Wednesday matinee off rather than the evening and secondly Aoife was 4th in “How do you solve…” rather than runner-up!

1/Apologies for the inaccuracy regarding Aoife’s appearances in The Sound of Music. In fact, Connie Fisher will not be performing on Monday evenings or Wednesday afternoons. I have corrected this in the text above.
2/ I have made the amendment to specify that Aoife did finish fourth, but the original statement was to inform readers that she was a runner up in the show (not THE runner up). Sorry if this was misunderstood by you.

Thank you for your enquiry.
Connie Fisher is due to finish her contract as Maria Von Trapp on the 23rd of February 2008, however rumours have been circulating as to who will replace her. Though no official announcement has been made, it looks as if Hollyoaks star Summer Strallen will join the production and debut as Maria on the 25th February 2008.
There has been no news on Aoife Mulholland’s contract continuing after it’s February expiry date, but we reckon that she’ll be asked to stay on as she has received outstanding reviews and standing ovations. Please keep checking the site for further information on the cast change and thank you once again for showing an interest in our site.
