Lord of the Blogs
March 28th, 2007 by Laura WestA performer in the upcoming Lord of the Rings Stage Show, Stevie Tate Bauer, has started her own blog on the ‘The Alternate’, a blog site for designed to give an alternative view of Theatreland. The blog is run by the Society of London theatre. In her blog, Steve talks about the four months of rehearsals the cast of Lord of the Rings have undergone - with the male ensemble starting their circus training three weeks before the rest of the cast. I never knew it was such hard work being an Orc - I would have though all you had to do was run round and look threatening! All this work is leading up to a premiere on May 9th at the Theatre Royal, Drury Lane.
Lord of the Rings promises to be a pretty exciting piece of theatre, something that the director Matthew Warchus describes as ‘a cross between Shakespeare and Cirque Du Soleil’. I can’t wait to see Tolkein’s masterpiece brought to the stage for the first time, the theatre will add a whole new dimension to one of the greatest stories ever written. Roll on May 9th!

Stevie!
We’ve seen the show twice now and have appreciated the changes (minor) that were made to it. The refinements work! Critics have had mixed reviews, but it’s the box office that counts. I have no worries: Your audiences will wax lyrical about the show, ensuring that legions attend and there will be many ‘bums-on-seats’ for years to come!
